Hotel Clarendon , Quebec City, Quebec

Hotel Description
143 rooms, 7 floors

Since 1870, the Clarendon Hotel has been an integral part of Old Quebec. The hotel is located across from the tended grounds of City Hall in a neighbourhood criss-crossed with cobblestone streets lined with ornamental gardens. Nearby, you will find a grove of century-old trees.

The Clarendon Hotel stands out from other hotels in the Old City by virtue of its architecture. Instead of resembling a “château”, as do so many establishments in this part of town, the Clarendon is a jewel of modern decorative arts, a combination of Art Nouveau from the Belle Époque and Art Deco from the Roaring Twenties. Quebec City’s only New York-style skyscraper, the 17-storey Price Building, which dates back to 1929, is the Clarendon’s next-door neighbour. Of course, where else would expect to find such a prestigious building with Art Deco architecture?

Every room in the Clarendon Hotel was renovated to meet the standards of functional luxury of first-class hotels. You will be delighted by the classic décor with a modern twist, stylish furniture and work table, windows with beautiful curtains and a softly inviting bed. There is also a wireless high-speed Internet connection in each room.

The Clarendon Hotel offers our professional and business clientele the opportunity to combine an active lifestyle with the art of living. Put an end to staying in bland, static hotels! Instead, try something new by opting for one of our executive suites that include all the services you require for your professional affairs: lounge to talk shop with business colleagues, office desk, comfortable chairs, wireless high-speed Internet connection, room service and secretarial services.

Regardless of whether this is your first or fifteenth visit to Old Quebec, the staff of the Clarendon Hotel has attended to every last detail to make your stay as enjoyable as possible, just as is done in the world’s poshest hotels: indoor parking and your bags brought to your room, warm and comfortable lobby, breakfast served at a table with a view of the Old City, market-fresh ingredients included in each gourmet dish, sparkling aperitif and soothing jazz, health spa to help you unwind, evening snack in a romantic alcove, refreshing night’s sleep on fresh cotton sheets, a bathrobe for those lazy mornings or a pressed shirt for a busy working day. We leave nothing to chance to make sure all your needs are met—even those you may not be aware you have!

We believe that running a hotel is all about making other people feel right at home. True hospitality is discreet and is expressed on a daily basis by a myriad of small gestures. This is something each member of our staff takes to heart.

Our restaurant Le Charles Baillairgé, the oldest restaurant in the country, has a place set for you. The Clarendon offers a refined menu featuring dishes with international appeal: exotic sauces enhance the flavour of guinea fowl and game, delectable Atlantic salmon and seafood dishes bring a smile to your face, the highest quality olive oil and little-known citrus fruit add a distinctive touch to our daring salads prepared with greens from our very own garden, delicious terrines and fine cheeses from local producers make marvellous accompaniments, ginger and exotic spices tantalize the palate and exquisite chocolates and a glass of port bring your superb dining experience to an end.

Jazz performers may sometimes sing the blues, but to musicians and jazz lovers, the Clarendon’s café-bar l’Emprise is worth a mountain of gold. Quebec City residents and tourists alike appreciate the atmosphere at l’Emprise, which has become a veritable institution in the city. Relax in the lounge-like ambiance while listening to some mellow tunes and savouring a draft beer, glass of red wine or scotch as golden as a saxophone playing in the spotlight onstage. At the Clarendon Hotel, jazz, a cosmopolitan nomad in the music world, can be found in excellent form—lively, passionate, tender. You will be glad you came!

At the Clarendon, we offer six meeting rooms to choose from, including a small lounge next to the dining room, a conference room with audio-visual equipment or the Dufour Lounge able to accommodate up to 150 people. The splendid period décor in the Clarendon Hotel adds a particular cachet to your business meetings.

Take advantage of the Clarendon’s long tradition of hospitality when you want the event you are hosting to be a smashing success. We offer attentive organization planning services and a delightful, historical setting for events both large and small. The Clarendon Hotel will add flair and sophistication to your cocktails, galas and banquets.
