Set next to the oceanshore on Victoria's Outer Harbour, the Laurel Point Inn's Japanese garden is an enchanting acre of trees, flowers, rocks and water, representative of the aesthetics of Japanese garden design. Clyde Snobelen, chief gardener, states "the garden is quite authentic to the Japanese tradition and a great deal of time goes into clipping and maintaining the look of the garden."

One of the dominant features of the garden is the large reflecting pond — a glassy surface that captures the ever changing sky, seascapes and the architecture of the Laurel Point Inn. Islands in the pond represent BC's Gulf Islands and Active Pass. The other dominant feature of the garden is the waterfall. An enormous undertaking to build, just one of the rocks in the waterfall weighs a whopping 47,000 pounds and had to be swung into place using a crane tipped on its side to create the pendulum motion.
